E-Mail Forwarding And E-Mail Software Setup

E-Mail Forwarding allows you to redirect mail sent to your domain to another e-mail address. For example, perhaps

you would like all mail sent to info@yourdomain.com to be sent to erichv@aol.com. You would add a redirect much

like the picture below is set up.

Follow These Steps For E-Mail Forwarding

Go to your control panel at http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/plusmail

Do NOT delete the default e-mail that is setup in the first row of the form. (as shown above)

Add a new redirect in the second row. You can add any name you would like, and use that e-mail on your

website, or business cards.

Add the single email, or email addresses you would like that mail to go to. (as shown above. Line 3 has 2

redirects)

Wait at least one hour and then test your new e-mail by sending an e-mail to the new

"whatever@yourdomain.com" e-mail that you set up. It should come into the mail that you indicated in your control

panel in the "Forward To" field.

Follow These Steps To Receive All E-mail From Your Domain

If you would like all the e-mail that comes into your website with your new or existing domain to come into

software setup on your computer, please follow the instructions below.

Open the e-mail software that you plan to use for receiving e-mail that is on your computer. (Outlook,

Outlook Express, Eudora...)

Set the software up to receive e-mail at "yourdomain@yourdomain.com" Substitute both instances with your

domain name. For example use: funnyglass@funnyglass.com.

This is your global e-mail. Any mail that comes into "@yourdomain.com" will go to you. For example,

bob@yourdomain.com or quotes@yourdomain.com will now all come into your software that is configured as

"yourdomain@yourdomain.com"

More Detailed E-mail Information

How you setup your email is going to depend on what email program you are
using.
You can find more help with the specifics of setting up an email client here:
http://www.allwebco.com/help/search/kb/article/000037

You can setup your email program to check your email at your
domain, or you can use your current email address of
your-email@your-provider.com, and simply forward all email from your hosting
account to that email address.

To just forward everything, go to your control panel here: http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/plusmail

login, then click on "email forwarding"

Then, under the default line (do not edit the default line) in the farthest empty box to the left, put:
"yourdomain" (no "" marks)
then in the next blank to the right of that blank, put:
"your-email@your-provider.com" (again, no "" marks)

then click the button at the bottom of the page that saves the changes.
Then, any email sent to your domain name (anything@yourdomain.com) will go
to your your-email@your-provider.com account.

Adding a Separate Mailbox

If you want to have a separate mailbox that has its own login and password:

Login to your control panel and click on "User Manager" from the menu on the
left. Then, click on "Add User" at the top of that page. Then, in the
"Username" blank, put the front of the email address. For example, if you
want example@yourdomain.com for the email address, you'd put "example" in
the "Username" blank. (again, no "" marks)
After that, leave the "Type" set at "POP" and put in whatever password you
want that email account to use in the "Password" blank. Leave the
"Directory" blank empty, and click the "Setup" button.
Wait fifteen minutes or so, and then the account should be setup.

If you get the message that the name is already in use, please see the url below for a fix:
http://www.allwebco.com/help/search/kb/article/000005

E-Mail Programs

To setup your email program to send and receive email through your hosting account, please see the article here and/or the manual located here: http://supportmanual.com and click on "full manual" on the menu to

your left, and then see the section labeled "Email management" (bottom left hand side of the first box of links)

Web Based E-Mail Programs:

To use SquirrelMail (a web based email program like hotmail and yahoo):
Simply go to: http://your-domain-here.com/webmail

Password: (enter your password)

Port: (you do not have to enter anything in the blank for "Port").

They are all somewhat different.

Basically though, these settings remain constant:
(For the example below, assume your domain name is fred.com)

Smtp = fred.com
pop = fred@fred.com
from = anyname@fred.com
passwd = the same used for FTP

There are several ways to upload files to your website.

If you're using FrontPage, there is a FrontPage tutorial that will help you get started here: http://supportmanual.com

If you're not using FrontPage, then that leaves you open to using any FTP program you like or telnet (telnet is complicated, ftp is easy)

You can NOT use FrontPage AND anything else. If you use FP, you must stick with it, as using FTP will corrupt the FP extensions on your site and FP won't work any more.

If you decide to use FTP, we usually recommend using one of the free FTP utilities such as FileZilla, CuteFTP, or WSFTP
(See http://www.allwebco.com/help/search/kb/article/000034 for help with installing and setting up FileZilla)
(a google search for any of those should get you to the latest versions to download)

They will give you two windows right next to each other.. one for your hard drive, and one for y(our) server. It looks like windows explorer. Then all you have to do is click on the file you want to upload on your hard drive, and drag it into the other window, and it uploads it for you! (you can do several at once too)

You'll want to make sure that you're uploading to the www directory of your server.

Most FTP programs have these common settings. For the purpose of this example, assume your domain name is example.com:

Label for site: example.com
FTP Host Address: example.com (use your IP address here if your domain name is not yet pointed to our servers)
FTP site user name: user-name-here
FTP site password: ********
FTP site connection port: 21
Login Type: normal

You can also find some help with FTP settings here:
http://allwebco.com/ftpuse.shtml

and some helpful links for both FrontPage and FTP use here:

(note the link to the help vidlets at the top of that page)

Check out http://supportmanual.com for both the regular manual, and also the FrontPage tutorial (click on "training" to get to the FP tutorials)

The first step is to register the new domain name. You can do that by going here:
http://AllWebCo.com/whois.shtml

To park a new domain name to your existing site, there is a one-time-only $15 charge for each parked domain that you have, unless your account already has some parks unlocked (the Value package doesn't come with any, but all other hosting packages come with at least 5). You can have as many parked domains as you like.

If you don't have any parks included/available in your hosting package, you can order a parked domain from here: http://www.allwebco.com/add-ons.shtml
- make sure that you put in your CURRENTLY hosted site -ex: yourcurrentsite.com in the field when you place the order.

After you place that order, you'll receive an email letting you know when the order has been processed and your control panel is unlocked.
You can then login to your control panel, click on "Applications" on the menu on the left, and then on "park domain" at the top of the page, and park a domain name there.
At the bottom of that same page, are the controls to allow you to park the domain name to a subdirectory, along with directions on how to do it if you want to do that.

It generally takes about 4 to 6 hours for the setup of the park. When it is ready you will be able to go to your control panel
( http://YOURDOMAIN.COM/cgi-bin/plusmail )
and click APPLICATIONS on the left menu. On the next screen you will click on PARK DOMAIN at the top.

On the next screen in the first field (white box) you will type in: yournewdomain.com (WITHOUT the "www.") and press the button to park the domain. It will take a few moments so please be patient.
When it is done it will come back with a message that it is being processed. After this it will take approximately 2 to 3 hours for it to propagate.

Don't forget: If you didn't register the new domain name through us, you will need to change the DNS (Domain Name Server) entries on the second domain name to point to our servers.
What name server entries you should use depends on the type of account you have.

If you have a Plusmail account where your control panel is located at an address like http://YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME.com/cgi-bin/plusmail then you should use these DNS entries:

Primary: NS.ALLWEBCO.NET
Secondary: NS2.ALLWEBCO.NET

If you have a cPanel account where you control panel is located at an address like this: http://YOUR-DOMAIN-HERE.com/cpanel then you should use these DNS entries:

Primary: CS.ALLWEBCO.NET
Secondary: CS2.ALLWEBCO.NET

For more help with that part of it, please see:
You can find step by step instructions on how to setup the template contact forms here:
http://www.allwebco-templates.com/support/S_contact_form_quick.htm

That is part of a comprehensive, search-able help directory for all things template related here:
http://AllWebCo-Templates.com/support
(You can also contact template support personel for more help at the above link)

Some common problems to check for are:

Be sure that the formmail script is named exactly like it is in your contact form.

For example, if the "post" line in your contact web page is looking for formmail.cgi and the script in your cgi-bin is actually named FormMail.cgi, then it won't work (capital letter matter as it's case sensitive). If the page is looking for formmail.pl and you have formmail.cgi, it won't work. (you can simply rename one or the other so that they match)

Be sure that you upload your formmail script to your cgi-bin in ASCII mode, and not Binary mode, or it won't work.

Be sure to set the permissions of the formmail script to CHMOD 755 (executable) or it will not work.

Again, you can find more troubleshooting help here:
http://AllWebCo-Templates.com/support

If you would like to have us setup your contact form for you, it's one of the template services that we provide for a one-time charge.

You can order the service here:
The two places are the main email/FTP/SSH account of YOUR-DOMAIN and your control panel since it uses a separate login. (Instructions for both below)

To change the password for an email and/or FTP/SSH account:

Login to your control panel (http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/cgi-bin/plusmail) click on "User Manager" from the menu on your left.
Then, select the email address/account name you want to change by clicking the circle next to the name. Enter the new password you want into both of the blanks at the bottom of the page, and click the "Change Password" button.

To change the password for your control panel:

Login to your control panel (http://YOUR-DOMAIN.com/cgi-bin/plusmail) and then click on "Password Manager" in the menu to your left. Then check the box next to YOUR-DOMAIN under the bold heading of "Plusmail User" and type/retype your new password into the blanks under it.

Alternatively, you can login via FTP and go to the home directory. Delete the file named "plusmail_passwd"

You can then go back to the Plusmail login page with your browser, and it will let you put in any login and password you like.

NOTE: be sure to do this as soon as possible, as your control panel will be wide open for anyone else to decide your password for you if they happen to try to go to your control panel before you're done.
Why not?
The problem is that the site manager is not really meant to be an upload tool and only has limited functionality.

All items uploaded with the site manager must be under 64K in size.

We recommend you use an actual FTP client such as WS_FTP, CuteFTP, FileZilla, etc... to upload your files. A Google search for any of those should give you plenty of information on how to get started using any one of those.

FileZilla is free, and many other FTP programs have free versions as well.

http://put-your-domain-here.com/cgi-bin/plusmail

1. select "User Manager"

2. click on "Add User"

3. You can then add the account. The screen loads for adding a POP account by default.
After you establish the account, it takes about 5-10 minutes to become active.

If you get the message that the username is already taken, don't panic. There's an easy work-around. You share the server with other domains. Each users, Telnet, FTP or Email is setup as a user on the server. So recieving the message:

"The userid you requested is already in use by someone on this server, please select another."

Just means that the USERID is already taken by another domain. A user name can only be used ONCE per server. If this is a name such as "sales" you can use a redirect that will make the name valid and just redirect email to a valid POP box.

In other words, you can setup a pop account of sales5@yourdomain.com and then setup a redirect that forwards all email sent to sales@yourdomain.com to sales5@yourdomain.com and as long as you have your email program is setup to show the return address of sales@yourdomain.com then your customers shouldn't ever even know the difference.

Part 1: If you registered your domain name through AllWebCo:

1.) Go to http://www.Domain-Registrations.org

2.) Click on "Account Login"

3.) Enter your login and password you used/received when you registered the name.

4.) Click on "Name Servers" on the little bar on the top of the page (or you can scroll down and click on the link that reads "Manage Name Servers"

5.) Enter the new primary and secondary server hostnames (names only, the system will lookup the IP numbers associated with the hostnames.)

6.) Click the "Save Configuration" button under the hostname blanks.

7.) Log off of the system, and wait 24 to 72 hours for the changes to be completed.

That's all there is to it!

Part 2: If you registered your domain name with anyone other than AllWebCo:

Since there are now so many different companies registering and controlling domain names, it's impossible for us to list specific instructions on how to accomplish the change through each company, but hopefully we can point you in the right direction.

Please NOTE: There is next to nothing that we can do to help with your domain name unless and until it is transferred to our registrar. Other registrars will not, and rightfully should not, allow us to act on your behalf or change anything for you, whether it's your admin email address, or name server entries, or anything else. In fact, if you're having trouble getting a name pointed to us, we won't even know it unless you tell us, so please let us know. We might be able to offer some helpful advice or point you in the right direction if you let us know you're having trouble.

If you are moving your site to our servers from another hosting company, you will need to change the DNS (domain name server) entries for your domain name. (sometimes referred to as NameServer entries)

NOTE: You should first upload your site's current pages and files to the IP address you received from us when you ordered. You do not want to change your NameServer entries until you have finished this, because your domain name will point to a site with no pages, causing down-time for your site. (an IP address can be used like a domain name, so you'll upload your pages using that, and then when the NameServers are changed, your domain name will point to your new site with us.)

To work with our hosting services, the NameServer entries should be pointed as follows:

Primary: NS.ALLWEBCO.NET
Secondary: NS2.ALLWEBCO.NET

Depending on where you registered your domain name, and you are lucky enough to have a web based control panel where you can make these changes yourself (as we provide our registration customers), this should be an easy change to make. Just go to the registrars site, login to your control panel, and look for the controls to the DNS, NameServer entries, Hostnames, Netaddresses, or Name Servers. Normally, you will only need to enter the names (above) but if you need the IP addresses, they are as follows:

Primary Name Server
Primary Server Hostname.........:NS.ALLWEBCO.NET
Primary Server Netaddress.......:209.204.221.245

Secondary Name Server
Secondary Server Hostname.......:NS2.ALLWEBCO.NET
Secondary Server Netaddress.....:209.150.136.211

If you do not have a control panel, you'll need to contact the registrar, or hosting company that registered the name for you, and request that they either make the changes for you, or tell you where to make them yourself.

If you do not know who the registrar is for your domain name, you can look it up by looking up your domain name here:
http://www.AllWebCo.com/whois.shtml
(click on the "[CLICK HERE to see owner]" link to view the registration information)

Many hosting companies resell domain names through assorted registrars, so if you ordered a domain name through a hosting company, it's possible that you'll run into a situation where you'll need to contact the hosting company rather than the registrar.

There are a few things you can do. One of which is to remove the default line in the forwardings section of your control panel.

This will
make it so that all emails sent to any address that's not already specifically pointed to a pop account, or forwarded elsewhere by your control panel, will simply bounce.

This will prevent you from having to deal with spam sent to addresses you never use. (Spammers frequently send spam to commonly used email addresses such as sales/support/contact/info/etc... as well as common proper names)

This of course means you'd have to setup pop accounts and/or forwardings for whatever you do want to use, and that you'd lose the ability to use the catch all feature that will make sure you get any email that ends in your domain name, but it may be worth it to you.

You can setup the spam filter included with your account through your control panel (login and click on "Spam Filter" in the menu to your left) but even the best spam filters can never completely stop spam.

If you're serious about stopping the spam, you may want to look into a service such as SpamArrest as this type of service is currently the only way to rid yourself of spam completely. You can see a demo on how that works, as well as sign up for a free 30 day trial of their services by clicking on the graphic below.

To cancel your hosting service, please use the following link:
http://allwebco.com/cancelaccount.shtml

How do I upload my template?
There are many ways to upload a template:
If you're using FrontPage, there is a FrontPage tutorial that will help you get started here: http://supportmanual.com

If you're not using FrontPage, then that leaves you open to using any FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program you like or telnet (telnet is somewhat more complicated, compared to FTP)
You can NOT use FrontPage AND anything else. If you use FP, you must stick with it, or it will corrupt the FP extensions on your site and FP won't work any more (You can fix this by using your control panel to re-install FrontPage extensions)
If you decide to use FTP, we would recommend using CuteFTP, FileZilla, or WSFTP. Many if not all of those have free versions you can use. A google.com search for any of those should give you all the info you need to get started with them.
There's also some videos on how to do this here:
http://www.webcoservices.net/viewlets/

Those types of FTP programs will give you two windows right next to each other.. one for your hard drive, and one for y(our) server. It looks like windows explorer. Then all you have to do is click on the file you want to upload on your hard drive, and drag it into the other window, and it uploads it for you! (you can do several at once too)

Speaking of windows, some people even use the "My Computer" part of windows - You just type this into the address bar: ftp://your-domain-name.com/www

Whatever you use, you'll want to make sure that you're uploading to the www directory of your server.
While FTP programs will allow you to upload many files at once, and even change permissions of files and other advanced tasks such as those, you can decide to use only your control panel if you prefer. The disadvantages are that using Site Manager, you can only upload one file at a time, and items uploaded with the site manager must be under 64K in size.

To upload using your control panel, login to:
http://Your-Domain.com/cgi-bin/plusmail
(or the same address using the IP address you were sent instead of the domain name) and then click on the link to "Site Manager" in the menu on your left.

Here's some instructions on how to use Site Manager:
http://www.allwebco.com/help/search/kb/article/000030

For more information on uploading methods, see the "Uploading your web site" section of this online manual here:
http://supportmanual.com

Of course the best place to go for help is the comprehensive, search-able help directory for all things template related here:
http://allwebco-templates.com/support
(You can also contact template support personnel at the above address for more help with any purchased template)

Additionally, if you're using an AllWebCo template (even one of the free ones) and you just don't want to be bothered with this part of the process, we offer a template upload service where we take care of uploading your files for you.

We can either upload a blank template for you to edit, or you can complete your site on your computer and then send us your site in a zip file (or by snail-mail) for us to upload for you.

If you would like to order the template upload service, please see:
https://plus40.safe-order.net/allwebco/ts-order.shtml

Yes, we can change your MX (mail exchange) records if you like.

There is a one-time-only 15.00 charge for this service, and there are some things you should be aware of:

Once this change is made, you will not have the ability to use any email features through us.

This means you will not have the ability to use your control panel to forward any emails, setup any autoresponders, mailling lists, or pop accounts.
All of your email needs will have to be met by the company that will control your MX records once the change is made, as we will no longer have any ability to control those functions for you.

If all of this is acceptable to you, and you want to make the change, please contact our billing department with the info as to where you want the MX records to point, and please don't forget to mention that you authorize the 15.00 charge.

You can contact our billing department here:
Why not?

In an attempt to control the spam problem, some Internet service providers block port 25.

If your ISP is blocking port 25, you'll be able to receive emails, but not send any.
To get around this problem, please change your email program's settings so that it uses port 587 instead of port 25.

If you're not sure how to do that, check with the help files in your email program or simply go to http://google.com and search for a phrase like "how to change port 25 to 587" for more information.

We encourage you to change your page titles to include as many keywords as possible, as the search engines put a lot of weight on what goes in between your title tags.

We do not recommend repeated use of the same keyword in the same title, as some engines will penalize your ranking for doing what they consider to be "keyword spamming".

Here is a link to some specific instructions on how to change your page titles, meta tags, keywords, etc...:
As an example, let's say your hosted account with us is: johndoe.com -- You have a pop3 email account of john@johndoe.com set up -- You want all email sent to that address to get an automatic email back but you still need to see the email they sent.

1) Set up your autoresponder using your control panel and name it: john
2) Look up your server name on the main page of your control panel
(This will be something like secure: plus9.safe-order.net - the plus9 is the server name - leave the rest off when you create the forwarder.)
3) Create a FORWARDER for: john
4) Have it direct to john@plus9.host4u.net

This way email sent to the user will send the autoresponder to the sender and still end up in your email box.

I logged into webmail and all of my email is gone all of a sudden. What happened?

Your email was automatically archived as you went above the 10 MB quota. The system will automatically zip your email files and put them in the home directory of your hosting account when this happens, so that you can continue to receive emails and not bounce message back to the sender.

We recommend using a real email client such as Outlook Express, Eudora or something when possible instead of webmail as webmail will not allow you very much storage, only 10 MB and then it will be archived & removed.

If you plan on using the SquirrelMail webmail as your primary email program you will need to remember to regularly delete emails (including the sent items and emptying the trash folder)

We can have our admins restore it to the FOLDERS area in your webmail. Once restore, you would click on folders at the top, then scroll down and you should see something in the white box like emailname-OLDMAIL or something.

Highlight it and click the subscribe button. Refresh your folder list using the link on the left menu and you should see a new folder with that name. Your previous inbox will all be there, simply click on it to open.

If you would like to change the name of your site, there are 2 ways to accomplish this:

1. We can do it on our end. The charge is a one-time $20 fee. To start this process, please use the following contact form to confirm the new name you would like and that you agree to the $20 fee. http://www.allwebco.com/billing.shtml
NOTE: This does not include registering another domain name. This can be done using the following link http://allwebco.com/whois.shtml

-or-

2. Place an order for a new site using the new domain name. Our order form is located at: http://allwebco.com/order.shtml - When you place your order, please indicate in the comments section that the order is to change the domain name for the site. After we setup up the new account and send you the setup information, you will have to copy your files to the new site. After moving the files, we ask that you contact us to have the old site deleted. This should be done within 3 days after we send you the setup information for the new site. If you don't cancel the old site, you will be charged for both of them.
